WELCOME TO KIWIS – our Nursery centre caring for children from birth to two and half years

Our Kiwis centre is licensed for 23 children.  Joy is the Senior Teacher and leads a team of five educators. Joy joined the Kids Inn family in 2003. In 2006, she embarked on her travel adventures with husband Kenneth. She came back to Kids Inn in 2008 and has since enjoyed being a part of the Kiwis team.

Kia Ora! I fell in love with the early childhood sector and began teaching in 2003. Shortly after that, I discovered that my passion is in working with the under 2 year olds. They have so much joy for life that we, adults can learn a lot from. I cannot stop marvelling at how their minds unfold at every discovery they make about their own selves in relation to the world around them. I delight in supporting them in their discoveries by persevering to promote an environment where they can flourish in a loving and peaceful atmosphere, through meaningful learning experiences, and secure and healthy relationships between children, teachers and parents.

                                   

                             

My early career background was in the medical field, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing with Honours (overseas). I have a Graduate Diploma in Teaching (Early Childhood Education) from The University of Auckland. Currently, I am halfway through my Masters Degree, specializing in infant and toddler learning, again with The University of Auckland.  

 

                                                                                               

Routines and Records

We aim to support your family by striving to maintain a routine for your child that is as close as possible to what they have at home.  From meal times and sleep times to their favourite cuddly toy or rug, our goal is to make the transition from home to Kiwis a comfortable and empowering experience for your child.

The children each have their own Individual Portfolio that records their learning and development here at Kiwis.  Parents and whanau are encouraged to contribute to the Portfolio to share information about your child and further enrich his or her learning.
