Our Philosophy

At Kids Inn Nursery and Preschool we are inspired by the Reggio Emilia and Magda Gerber(RIE) approach.  We follow the philosophy of a child initiated programme where the teacher acts as a facilitator to empower the children to become independent learners and have a greater involvement in the process.

Children are encouraged to be responsible for their own decisions – implementing, creating and completing a task.  The child initiated philosophy provides a meaningful, quality education.  It allows children to interact independently, co-operatively, and thoughtfully.  The programme enhances self-esteem and ensures that all children are able to develop to their full potential.

Staff

At Kids Inn we believe our staff are critical to our success as a provider of high quality early childhood care and education services.  Each centre is led by an Early Childhood qualified Senior Teacher.  Kids Inn is committed to employing qualified Early Childhood Educators and is required to hold a current First Aid Certificate.  Kids Inn provides and supports regular Professional Development and Teacher Registration.

Cherie Green - Centre Director

Diploma of Teaching ECE, Registered Teacher

I first became involved in Early Childhood Education in 1984. While I have seen many changes within the sector the one thing that hasn't changed for me is the importance of providing quality education and care to children aged under five. I value the philosophy of the Reggio Emilia approach where children are encouraged to explore and learn to problem solve and to make connections with their peers, teachers and the wider community.

Meals:

Kids Inn provides a range of balanced and nutritious meals throughout the day; these are prepared by our on-site cooks.  We work under the guidelines of the National Heart Foundation and hold “Healthy Heart Awards” for all our centres. click to show sample menu

Programme

Our programme provides a learning environment for children based on the National Early Childhood Curriculum – Te Whaariki.  We provide learning experiences in all the curriculum areas: Science, Literacy, Maths and Numeracy, Health and Physical Education, Technology, Social Sciences and the Art.

Children’s interests and passions inspire our programme and this happens through:

Communication

We believe passionately about the importance of good communication with the parents and families who entrust their children to our care.
Each of our centres sends out a Weekly Email to all parents to communicate about the week’s activities, planned events and important notices and updates.
The staff are available on a daily basis to speak to parents about their child’s day.  They are also available by appointment to meet with parents for more in-depth discussions.
We run Parent Evenings on a regular basis.  These may take the form of a social evening, a guest speaker or a presentation by the staff.
